Mark Simpson

Mark Simpson is an experienced geothermal and mineral geologist with a robust background in research and consultancy. Currently serving at GNS Science since September 2012, Mark specializes in researching geothermal systems and mineral deposits while providing commercial geothermal services. From 1998 to June 2012, Mark held the position of Research Associate at The University of Auckland and simultaneously served as Managing Director at Mineralogic and Petrologic Solutions Ltd, offering consultancy to the minerals and geothermal industry. Earlier in Mark's career, a role as a Petrologist was held at Terry Leach & Co Ltd from March 1996 to November 1997. Mark Simpson holds a Master’s of Science degree and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geology, both from The University of Auckland.
