Matthew Sagar

Sedimentologist & Geochronologist at GNS Science

Matt Sagar's work experience includes roles at various companies and institutions. Matt began their career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Otago in 2008 and worked in this role until 2010. From 2011 to 2012, they served as a Senior Teaching Assistant at the same institution. In 2013, they became a Teaching Fellow at the University of Otago and held this position until 2015. Matt then joined Victoria University of Wellington as a Rutherford New Zealand Postdoctoral Fellow from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they became self-employed and worked as an Independent Contract Geologist for a few months. Later that year, they joined GNS Science as a Geochronologist and then transitioned to the role of Sedimentologist/Geochronologist in 2019.

Matt Sagar completed their education at the University of Otago. From 2005 to 2008, they pursued a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc (Hons)) in Geology. Following their undergraduate studies, Matt went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geology at the same university from 2009 to 2013.
