Caren Kemunto

Caren Kemunto currently serves as a Graduate Research Intern at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, focusing on Global One Health and diseases at the human-animal interface since May 2018. Previously, Caren worked as a Research Assistant, enhancing the monitoring, surveillance, and control of arthropod vectors and vector-borne diseases near the Shimba Hills National Game Reserve in Kwale County, Kenya. In addition, Caren has experience as a Research Intern, scaling out Integrated Push-Pull Management for Fall Armyworms in smallholder farming contexts in Kenya and Tanzania. Caren is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Global One Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. Earlier experiences include internships at KAGRC and the Kenya Ministry of Agriculture, as well as volunteer work with PALWECO. Caren earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Chuka University and completed secondary education at Bunyore Girls High School.
