It has six units of education: Escola Superior Agrária, Escola Superior de Educação, Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Oliveira do Hospital, Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde, Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração, and Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra.

Under Rui Antunes's leadership, IPC has become one of the largest polytechnic institutes in Portugal with excellent employment rates for its graduates.
Rui Antunes earned a doctorate in social psychology from Universidade de Coimbra. Rui then went on to earn a master's degree in educational psychology from the same school. Finally, they completed a bachelor's degree in psychology from Universidade de Coimbra.
