Laura Sepp-Lorenzino

Laura Sepp-Lorenzino is the EVP and Chief Scientific Officer at Intellia Therapeutics. Laura has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on RNA therapeutics.

Laura began their career at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where they worked for September 2017 to May 2019 as the Vice President, Head Nucleic Acid Therapies, External Innovation. In this role, they were responsible for designing, enabling, and implementing the area strategy, working effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries. Laura also led a department responsible for identifying and developing safe and efficacious oligonucleotide delivery formulations.

In May 2019, they left Vertex to join Thermo Fisher Scientific as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of the Bioproducts Division. In this role, they were responsible for the scientific strategy and direction of the bioproducts business.

In their current role as EVP and Chief Scientific Officer at Intellia Therapeutics, Laura is responsible for the company's overall scientific strategy and direction. Under their leadership, the company has advanced its siRNA therapeutic programs through internal R&D stage gates in collaboration with disease areas and development functions. Laura has also contributed to regulatory documents and evaluated over 500 licensing opportunities.

Laura Sepp-Lorenzino is a biochemist who has a Ph.D. from New York University in the field of biochemistry. Laura also has a professional degree in pharmacy and biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires.
