Vinca Russell

Vinca Russell has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. In 2021, they joined IGS Limited as a Product Owner, transitioning from their previous role as a Junior Product Owner at the same company. Prior to that, Vinca was the Co-founder and Producer of an amateur theatre group called Cat-Like Tread, where they managed budget, project, and copywriting responsibilities. They also worked as a Book Reviewer for SFcrowsnest, reviewing science fiction, fantasy, and horror books for an online genre magazine.

From 2013 to 2021, Vinca worked at Witherby Publishing Group Ltd as an LNG Product Manager, overseeing digital products related to the LNG shipping industry. Their tasks included data management, database administration, technical writing, and research. Before that, Vinca held the position of Technical Researcher/Writer at the same company, specializing in topics such as LNG as a marine fuel, LNG terminals, and maritime regulations.

In 2008, Vinca worked as a PhD student at the University of Warwick, focusing on modeling infectious diseases in livestock. Their skills included project management, mathematical modeling, scientific writing and editing, and database design and management. They also conducted a three-month policy placement as a Researcher in the Health and Sport research team at the Scottish Parliament in 2011, where they conducted research, data analysis, and policy-based research.

Vinca started their career as an Admin Assistant at Brewin Dolphin Securities/Stocktrade, handling financial data, customer service, and general administrative tasks. They also briefly worked as a Sales and Customer Service Representative at Scotweb.

From 2008 to 2012, Vinca attended the University of Warwick and The Roslin Institute (Edinburgh) where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Vinca'sresearch focused on combining genetics and epidemiology to model footrot in sheep.

In 2007-2008, Vinca studied at the University of York and earned a Master of Research (MRes) degree in Computational Biology.

From 2002 to 2006, they attended The University of Edinburgh and completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Biological Sciences, with a specialization in Microbiology and Infection.

Apart from their formal education, Vinca has also obtained various certifications. Vinca completed a course on "Learning Power BI Desktop" from LinkedIn in September 2021. In August 2021, they acquired a certification in "Agile Product Owner Role: Foundations" also from LinkedIn. Vinca also holds certifications in "Agile Development Practices," "Characteristics of a Great Scrum Master," "IoT Foundations: Fundamentals," "Technology for Product Managers," "UX Research for Agile Teams," and "Product Management First Steps" - all attained through LinkedIn in July 2021. Additionally, they possess a PVG certificate from Disclosure Scotland obtained in May 2021. Prior to that, in January 2020, Vinca obtained a certificate in "Lloyd's Maritime Academy: Naval Architecture" from Informa. Vinca also completed courses such as "Program Management Foundations" from LinkedIn in November 2018, "Managing Technical Projects" and "Project Management Fundamentals" from Lynda.com in October 2016, and "Networked Life" from Coursera in October 2012.
