Filipe Telles do Casal

Filipe Telles do Casal has extensive work experience in the field of machine learning engineering. Filipe started their career at OLX Brasil in 2016, where they initially served as a Data Analyst for Messaging and Internal Tools. During this role, they successfully implemented an anti-spam and anti-fraud system that reduced spam/fraud by 80%.

In 2017, Filipe transitioned to the position of Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Search & Recommendation at OLX Brasil. In this role, they designed and implemented a recommendation system to serve recommendations for over 10 million users daily. Filipe faced various challenges, including working with big data, handling cold start (both user and item), and dealing with unstructured data. Filipe's innovative solutions helped create a unique RecSys that effectively addressed OLX's unique use-case and business rules. Filipe held this role until December 2020.

In 2021, Filipe joined Adevinta as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer. Filipe worked in this role from January 2021 to August 2021 before transitioning to their current position at Intellum as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in September 2021.

Filipe Telles do Casal began their education in 2010 at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering. Filipe completed their degree in 2015. In 2013, they participated in a visiting student program at Télecom Paris, focusing on Embedded Systems, FPGA's, and Computer Hardware for a year. Following this, in 2017, Filipe enrolled as a Master's degree student at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Filipe'sarea of study at the university was Otimization and Machine Learning. Filipe completed their studies in 2019.
