Rafael Álvares

Rafael Oliveira is an accomplished researcher in bioinformatics, currently serving as an R1 Researcher at NTNU Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, focusing on spatial transcriptomics and immune checkpoint inhibitors in small-cell lung cancer. Rafael's previous roles include Bioinformatician & Software Development Manager at a start-up, where work involved developing an MVP for extracting insights from biomedical data, and Data Scientist at BrandDelta, specializing in AI-driven market solutions. Early experiences include a Bioinformatics Volunteer position at Universidade de Aveiro, a Full-stack Developer role at Learning2Trading, and a Student Worker position at Viveiros do Litoral. Rafael holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Technology from NTNU and multiple degrees from Universidade de Aveiro, including a Master’s in Clinical Bioinformatics and postgraduate diplomas in Applied Statistics and Molecular Biomedicine.
