Monica Rajan

Executive Assistant & Project Coordinator at Interaction Institute for Social Change

As executive assistant and project coordinator, Monica Rajan works to support the efficient operations of IISC’s board of directors, president, and senior leadership team to harness the organization’s capacities for social justice and racial equity.

Monica learned about IISC through her work as the diversity, equity, and inclusion representative at Longy School of Music of Bard College. At Longy, she had the opportunity to collaborate with IISC consultants to design an efficient and inclusive race equity learning and planning process to deepen the understanding of DEI issues among the conservatory’s student body, staff, and faculty.

In addition to social justice and racial equity, Monica is equally passionate about educational equality and served as an AmeriCorps team leader with City Year and taught kindergarten for five years in a Title 1 school in Southeast, DC.

Monica is a professional opera singer and holds a Masters in Music in Voice and Opera from Longy School of Music of Bard College and aims to pursue a correlating career in the nonprofit world and the arts. She has sung in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Washington National Cathedral and made her European debut in 2018 with the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. When she’s not at work or in rehearsal, she likes to hike, travel, and explore Boston. She is thrilled to be a part of an innovative and collaborative organization like IISC whose vision closely aligns with her own goals.
