Senior Product Engineer at Intercom

Scott Southard has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Scott began their career at Caffe Streets in 2012 as a General Manager, where they managed staff, oversaw inventory, and handled financial duties. Under their leadership, the company saw significant growth in sales and social media presence.

In 2013, Scott joined Metric Coffee Co as a Trainer/Production Supervisor, playing a key role in the establishment of the craft coffee roasting company. Scott was responsible for scouting locations, branding, client acquisition, and sales. Additionally, they developed workflow protocols and provided training for numerous clients.

Scott then ventured into the field of media as a Staff Writer at Doom Rocket in 2015. Scott wrote thoughtful and critical reviews for various forms of media and established relationships within the media community, increasing traffic to the site.

In 2016, Scott attended Dev Bootcamp, an intensive training program for web developers. Scott gained skills in Ruby, Rails, HTML5, CSS, and agile development. Following this, they joined Cultural Media as a Web Developer, where they developed a pilot web application and worked on various aspects of the project alongside marketing, business development, and financial teams.

Scott's journey continued at Intercom, where they held multiple roles. Scott started as a Customer Support Engineer, resolving tickets and gaining knowledge in different programming languages and frameworks. Scott then took on the role of Senior Customer Support Engineer, leading a team and providing training and support. Later, they transitioned to a role as a Deliverability Engineer, building tools to monitor and prevent spam email. Currently, Scott works as a Product Engineer on Intercom's Threat Detection team, ensuring the safety of the company's infrastructure and customers through the development of compliance tools.

Throughout their employment history, Scott has demonstrated adaptability, technical skills, leadership, and a passion for learning and creating meaningful software.

Scott Southard attended Illinois State University from 2005 onwards, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. In 2016, they also completed a program in Computer Software Technology/Technician at Dev Bootcamp.
