Serena F.

Serena F. has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Serena started their career as a Teaching Assistant at the German University in Cairo in 2005, where they taught computer science courses and assisted students with their assignments.

Later, Serena worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Distributed Systems Group in Trinity College Dublin. Here, they focused on research related to programming models and dynamic reconfiguration for evolvable critical systems, specifically targeting the Java SunSpots embedded hardware platform.

Serena then worked as a Software Developer Contractor at Radicle Design, where they developed a mobile parking management software solution for the iPhone, using Objective-C and Interface Builder.

Serena continued their career as a Software Engineer at britebill, contributing to the development of core product features and working on-site with partners and clients to integrate large systems.

Serena then joined Conker, a gaming experience management platform, as a Software Engineer. Here, they worked on the development of the Conker native client, gaining insights into player behavior and optimizing gameplay to increase revenue.

Serena further expanded their skills as a Software Engineer at Boxangel, where they worked on software development projects.

In 2014, they joined Storyful as a Web Frontend Developer, focusing on web development tasks.

Most recently, Serena joined Intercom in 2015 as a Product Engineer. In this role, they worked as a full-stack developer, mainly on Intercom's inbox product, using EmberJS and Ruby/Rails. Serena also worked on CI/CD development, infrastructure as code, and ensuring the overall availability of Intercom's customer-facing endpoints. Serena was also a part of the voluntary on-call team at Intercom.

Serena F. pursued their education beginning in 1999 at the University of Stuttgart, where they obtained a Diplom Informatik degree in the field of Informatik in 2004. Serena furthered their academic pursuits and enrolled at Trinity College Dublin from 2005 to 2010, during which they successfully earned a PhD. Serena'sdoctoral research focused on Embedded Software, Dynamic Software Reconfiguration, and Software Component Models.
