Alex Stancu has extensive experience in the aviation and transport sectors, currently serving as Head of Region for South and East Africa at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since February 2006, where responsibilities include managing a cross-cultural team and fostering senior-level relationships across multiple stakeholders. Key achievements include significantly improving member satisfaction and resolving substantial blocked airline funds in Angola and Zimbabwe. Previously, Alex held various leadership roles within IATA, including Chief of Staff for the Africa & Middle East regions, where a regional transformation program was successfully executed. In addition to practical experience, Alex has contributed to academia as a Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva and has a strong educational background, holding an MBA and a PhD in Business/Managerial Economics from the same institution.
