John Banfield

John Banfield has extensive experience in legal and engineering fields, currently serving as Special Counsel at the International Court of Justice since January 2018. Prior to this role, Banfield completed a D Phil in Divinity at the University of Oxford while being a full-time student from January 2011 to December 2017. Banfield's engineering career includes positions as Executive Engineer Telephony at Telstra from February 2005 to February 2011, Engineering Manager of Transmission at Optus from June 1995 to January 2005, and Cadet Engineer at Optus from January 1993 to December 1994. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from the University of Sydney, earned between 1990 and 1994.
