Maggie Gorman Vélez

Director, Policy & Evaluation at International Development Research Centre

Maggie’s professional experience in the international research and development field includes strategy development, risk management, corporate performance, and monitoring and evaluation. She joined IDRC in 2004 as a research award recipient focused on private sector interventions in the development space, and the impacts of research support during periods of conflict and transition. Prior to her current position at IDRC, she also held roles in Partnerships, and in the Vice-President’s and President’s Office.

Maggie has an academic background in political economy, gender, and international development; she has a master's degree from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Thomas University in Fredericton.
