Richard Cooksley originally trained as an electrical engineer Richard made the change from engineer to agricultural management some 40 years ago and was involved in the supply trade, animal feed manufacturing, feed materials processing, biomass, and storage industries. He has held a number of senior management roles and is currently involved in two major capital investment projects.
He is the Director of the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM), and a Board Member of the Society for the Environment. His company provides management services for IAgrM & the Bristol Corn & Feed Trade Association (BCFTA), and administration services for the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC). He has recently (Nov. 2017) become the President of the North Somerset Agricultural Society.
His qualifications include Professional Agriculturalist, Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, Chartered Environmentalist, and Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies.
In excess of 60% of his time is spent training and mentoring in the Agricultural Industry.
He has a number of interests outside of the industry one of which is giant onion growing, and he is a member of the Portishead International Ski Team.
Richard took over from Tony King as the Hon. Secretary/Treasurer in the Autumn of 2018.
