Tricia MacFarlane

Tricia is a Director of their farming company, Pencarrow Farm Ltd, which farm a 720-cow dairy herd in the Ashburton district, as well as equity holdings in another dairy, arable and mixed livestock farms in the region.

She is a Director and Shareholder of their farm consultancy business, Macfarlane Rural Business, which employs eight consultants.

Coming from a teaching background has fostered Tricia’s interest in and commitment to supporting training opportunities and career development within the agricultural value chain. She does this by employing young progressive farm managers, encouraging their professional development, and supporting and helping to organize farm excellence competitions and training schemes in NZ.

She is a Trustee of the Lincoln University Foundation, which aims to advance education in the fields of agriculture and related fields in New Zealand.

Her involvement with IFMA has come through attending several congresses since 2007, and she was on the organizing committee for the 2011 New Zealand congress, held in Methven, where she was awarded an IFMA ‘Oscar’ for finding accommodation for some 400 people in the small town of Methven following the earthquake in Christchurch two weeks before the congress was due to start.

She joined IFMA Council in 2015 after being elected by the New Zealand delegates at the IFMA20 Congress.
