Katherine Wilkes

Katherine (Katie) Wilkes is a seasoned communications and media consultant with extensive experience in crisis communication, media relations, and digital strategy. Since January 2017, Katherine has been self-employed, providing services for various clients, including Advocate Aurora Health and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. As an Emergency Communications Delegate with IFRC since September 2018, Katherine supports international relief efforts, serving as a spokesperson and media liaison. Previous roles include a consultative position at the American Red Cross, where Katherine produced media content, acted as a national spokesperson, and led disaster response communications. Katherine co-founded Freeheart Creative, focusing on empowering female leaders through storytelling, and has contributed to various organizations such as the National Aquarium and Clif Bar & Company. Katherine holds a BA in Communications and Media from DePaul University.
