Alberto Cogliati

Director & Chief Risk Officer, IFAD’s Office of Enterprise Risk Management at International Fund for Agricultural Development

Alberto Cogliati is the Director and Chief Risk Officer in IFAD’s Office of Enterprise Risk Management (RMO) and a member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC) .

Prior to joining IFAD, he was a Director of the Central Bank of Italy. He has a financial and banking supervision background. In recent years, he was seconded from the Central Bank to the Ministry of Finance as a financial expert, representing Italy on the board of multilateral development banks. In this capacity, he also served as Chair of IFAD’s Audit Committee.

Previously, he served as the Deputy Chief Representative and Chief Analyst of the Central Bank of Italy Representative Office for Asia, in Tokyo, Japan, covering most of the Asian economies and financial systems. He also provided technical expertise to support regulatory and supervisory international cooperation, including on issues related to money laundering and terrorist financing. He worked closely with financial regulators, central banks, the private sector and multilateral institutions.

Cogliati holds a Laurea in Economics and Business from Università degli Studi di Roma, La Sapienza, and he is a certified internal auditor.
