Dr. Alvaro Lario

Dr. Alvaro Lario is a seasoned financial and leadership expert currently serving as President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) since January 2018, where Dr. Alvaro previously held the role of Associate Vice-President for Financial Operations and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to IFAD, Lario worked at the International Finance Corporation from July 2011 to December 2017 as Principal PM and Treasury Capital Markets Lead. Lario also has academic experience as an Adjunct Professor at Instituto de Empresa Business School from 2008 to June 2011, recognized as Best Teacher in the Master in Finance program in 2010 and the Master in Advanced Finance in 2011. Additionally, Lario was Head of Alternative Investments at Renta 4 from August 2006 to June 2011. Academic credentials include a Master's in Finance from Princeton University, PhD coursework at London Business School, a Doctor of Philosophy in Financial Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and advanced leadership programs from IMD.
