Roshan Cooke

Country Director, Bhutan And Nepal at International Fund for Agricultural Development

Roshan Cooke is an experienced professional in sustainable development and environmental management, currently serving as the Country Director for Bhutan and Nepal at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) since March 2011. Cooke's expertise lies in formulating programme and project solutions for rural poverty reduction, with a focus on climate change adaptation, ecosystem-based practices, and community-based resource management. Prior to IFAD, Cooke held various roles at the Global Mechanism of the UNCCD from 2001 to 2010, including Programme Coordinator for the Asia & Pacific region, where strategic management and policy development were key responsibilities. Experience also includes consulting work with the Canadian International Development Agency and the UNDP's Office to Combat Desertification and Drought. Academic qualifications include a Master of Forest Conservation and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Political Science from the University of Toronto.
