Andreas Bauer is an experienced leader in international finance, currently serving as Deputy Director of the Finance Department at the International Monetary Fund since January 2000. With a diverse background, Andreas has held several key positions including Assistant Director for the Asia and Pacific Department and Senior Resident Representative for India, Nepal, and Bhutan, where responsibility included overseeing the Strategy Unit. Previous roles encompass Division Chief for the Middle East and Central Asia Department, covering multiple countries, and various leadership roles within the Western Hemisphere Department, providing expertise on missions in Central America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining the IMF, Andreas worked at the Ministry of Finance of Chile and Credit Suisse, focusing on emerging markets in Latin America. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in Applied Macroeconomics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Licentiate in Economics from the University of St.Gallen.
