Mauro Mecagni

Mauro Mecagni is an accomplished economist with significant experience at the International Monetary Fund. Since 2009, Mauro has served as Assistant Director in the Immediate Office of the African Department and previously held the position of Division Chief for the Central I Division within the same department. From 2003 to 2008, Mauro was the Division Chief for the Crisis Resolution Issues Division in the Policy Development and Review Department. Earlier roles include Advisor in the Immediate Office of the Monetary and Exchange Affairs Department and the Resident Representative in Egypt within the Middle Eastern Department, as well as Deputy Division Chief in the Policy Review Division. Mauro holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Laurea, Cum Laude, in Economics from Università Bocconi.
