Vikram Haksar has extensive experience at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), serving in various high-level positions since 2002. Currently, Vikram is the Deputy Director in the Office of Risk Management, with previous roles including Assistant Director for Financial Stability, Macrofinancial Analysis, and Advanced Markets and Multilateral Surveillance. Notably, Vikram led the IMF mission that negotiated the first adjustment program with the Sandinista administration in Nicaragua and completed debt relief under the MDRI. In earlier positions, Vikram served as Mission Chief for Brazil, Mexico, and Nicaragua, and was the IMF Resident Representative to the Philippines. Vikram holds a PhD in Economics from Cornell University and a Bachelor's degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Education was initiated at The Doon School.
