Leroy Mwanzia is a seasoned professional in digital transformation and data management, currently serving as the Head of Digital and Data at the International Potato Center since January 2025, where leadership focuses on integrating technology and data science in agriculture. Previously, Leroy held key roles at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT as Senior Manager of Data Management and Open Science, and as Chief Data Officer at CIAT, emphasizing data governance and strategic asset management in international agricultural research. Leroy's experience includes developing data management systems at the World Agroforestry Centre and providing software development consultancy for various organizations, with a strong educational foundation in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi and Africa Nazarene University.

The International Potato Center (CIP) was founded in 1971 as a research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato and Andean roots and tubers. It delivers innovative science-based solutions to enhance access to affordable nutritious food, foster inclusive sustainable business and employment growth, and drive the climate resilience of root and tuber agri-food systems.
