Supervisory Policy Counsel at International Refugee Assistance Project

Adam Bates is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in policy advocacy and analysis. Currently serving as Policy Counsel at the International Refugee Assistance Project since October 2017, Adam previously worked at the Cato Institute as a Policy Analyst focused on criminal justice issues, where Adam produced and promoted critical research on topics such as over-criminalization and police misconduct. Adam's earlier roles include private tutoring in standardized test preparation at Manhattan Elite Prep, along with internships at the Cato Institute's Center for Defense and Foreign Policy, CAIR-OK, and the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office. Adam holds a J.D. and an M.A. in Modern Middle Eastern & North African Studies from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Miami.
