Luiz Freitas

Luiz Freitas serves as the Regional Director for South America at International Registries, Inc./The Marshall Islands Registry, a position held since January 2024, after previously holding the role of Country Manager (Brazil) and Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs, where responsibilities included managing operations in Brazil, customer relations, and new business development. With an extensive background in maritime safety and accident investigation, Luiz was the Brazilian Maritime Authority Representative to the Marine Accident Investigators' International Forum (MAIIF) and headed the Marine Casualties Investigation Department at the Directorate of Ports and Coasts. Early in his career, Luiz held the position of Harbour Master at Capitania dos Portos do Maranhão. Educational qualifications include a degree in Nautical Sciences from the Brazilian Navy Academy and advanced military education, along with specialized training in marine accident investigation and emergency management.
