Widely recognized as one of the premier international schools in the world, International School Bangkok (ISB) has been providing quality education since 1951 to expatriates representing more than 60 countries. Conveniently located just outside the heart of the city, ISB’s 15 hectare campus is nestled in a beautiful community called Nichada Thani where children can walk or ride their bicycle to school along tree-lined paths. History In 1951, a group of courageous and innovative parents opened what we now know as ISB. Those humble beginnings started with a student population of only 50 students, all of which were the children of United Nations and American diplomats. The school was first located on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy, but soon needed to expand in order to provide both primary and secondary education for the growing population of English-speaking children in Bangkok. In 1960 ISB moved from the U.S. Embassy grounds to a large facility on Sukhumvit Soi 15. Seven years later a second campus was opened in Bangsue to accommodate the expanding enrollment. In January 1992 ISB moved to its present location – a US$25-million campus with separate elementary, middle, and high schools interwoven into one Thai-style complex that is unrivaled in the region. Today ISB remains a nonprofit, independent, and nonsectarian school which is overseen by our parents who are members of our school association and elected to our Board of Trustees.
