Joe O'Callaghan has a diverse work experience starting in 2005, when they worked as a Visual Impairment Learning Support Assistant at Thomas Lord Audley School. Joe then went on to work as an RE & Geography Teacher at Aylsham High School from 2006 to 2008. In 2010, they worked as a Geography Teacher at Sir John Leman High School and later as a Senior EAL Teacher at English Experience Norwich. In 2013, they joined the High School Affiliated To Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a Teacher of IGCSE ESL & IBDP English B/TOK. From 2016 to 2020, they served as the Head Of English Department / Instructional Coach at Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School. Currently, they are working at the International School of London, where they hold the position of Head of English Language Learning & English Acquisition and also serves as an IB MYP & DP English Acquisition Teacher.

Joe O'Callaghan has a diverse education history. In 2002, they enrolled at the University of East Anglia and completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Society, Culture, & Media in 2005. Following this, in 2006, they pursued further education at the same university and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with a focus on Religious Education in 2007. In 2010, Joe attended the Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE) and obtained a CELTA (A) certification in EFL Teaching. Lastly, from 2015 to 2018, they attended the University of Leicester and earned a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics & TESOL.
