Yao Yao is a seasoned professional in global health, currently serving as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) since July 2020. Key contributions include developing a monitoring and evaluation framework for a global data modernization initiative, utilizing machine learning for healthcare data analysis in Haiti, and implementing evaluations of health information systems in Côte d'Ivoire. Yao has previous experience as a Research Fellow at Gates Ventures, focusing on maternal health quality measures and analyses of home births. As a Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington, Yao facilitated courses in global health and implementation science. Prior roles include significant research and project management positions at Health Alliance International, Save the Children International, and various academic and health organizations. Yao holds a Ph.D. in Global Health Implementation Science and has a strong academic background in health policy and management.

The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a global network that works with local partners to develop skilled health care workers and strong national health systems in resource-limited countries. I-TECH’s approximately 1,000 worldwide staff work with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), medical facilities, and other partners to support the development of a skilled health work force and well-organized national health delivery systems.
