Anja Mikic

Director, Standard Development, Nourishment Concept Lead at International WELL Building Institute

Anja Mikic serves on the Standard Development team in the continuous evolution of WELL and leads initiatives exploring how the built environment impacts dietary behaviors. In her role as the Nourishment Concept Lead, she has led the development of the Nourishment concept across WELL v1, v2 pilot, v2 and the WELL Community Standard pilot, translating research into practice to create food environments that positively impact the health of the people and the planet. Anja also leads market engagement and co-creation strategies across the organization, including the IWBI advisory program, working to facilitate an inclusive culture of collaborative innovation across a variety of industries, sectors and perspectives.

Prior to joining IWBI, she served as a research assistant at the New York Obesity Research Center examining​ the effects of sleep and meal timing on energy balance, hunger hormones and insulin resistance. A California native, Anja earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of California, Los Angeles where she studied human biology and society. She received her​ Master of Science degree in human nutrition from Columbia University in New York. She​ is both a WELL AP and LEED Green Associate, and happily serves as WELL Faculty​.
