Jason Smith has a wealth of experience in the IT and security field. Jason began their career in 2002 as a Server - Application Specialist for Lincoln County Schools. In 2004, they moved to Gaston County Government as a Network Analyst. In 2008, they joined Barloworld as a Network Administrator. In 2009, they held two positions: Security Analyst at Bank of America and Adjunct Instructor at ITT Technical Institute. In 2010, they were a Sr. Principal IT Security Engineer at General Dynamics. In 2013, they became a Sr. IT Security Architect at Belk. In 2014, they joined Time Warner Cable as a Sr. Engineer IT Security and Compliance. Finally, in 2015, they were a Sr. Security Consultant Manager at Internetwork Engineering.

Jason Smith began their educational journey in 1992 when they earned a BS in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University in 1997. In 2005, they obtained an MS in Technology Systems - Information Security from East Carolina University. Jason then obtained a CISSP from (ISC)² in May 2008. In 2015, they earned a CISA from ISACA and in 2016 they earned a CISM from ISACA. In 2018, they obtained a CRISC from the ISACA Kenya Chapter and a GSTRT from Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC). In 2021, they earned a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer from ISACA and in 2022 they earned a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council.
