Joel Bentz M.d., Fcap

Joel Bentz, M.D., FCAP has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of pathology. Joel currently works as a Per Diem Pathologist at both Pacific Pathology Associates, Inc. (PPA) and Laboratory Medicine Consultants (LMC). In 2022, they served as the Laboratory Director at Interpath Laboratory, Inc. Prior to this, they held the position of Pathologist and Principal Investigator at the Aurora Research Institute (ARI) since 2014. At ARI, they were responsible for facilitating research collaborations and new product development in conjunction with Sonic Healthcare USA. Joel also served as the Past-President of WestPac Labs from 2020 to 2022. Before that, they worked as a Pathologist and Laboratory Medical Director at Laboratory Medicine Consultants (LMC) from 2009 to 2020. Dr. Bentz also has teaching experience as a Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine from 1996 to 2009. Joel began their career at ARUP Laboratories as a Pathologist and Laboratory Director, where they worked from 1996 to 2009.

Joel Bentz, M.D., FCAP has an extensive education history. Joel began their academic journey in 1982 at Concordia College, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and successfully completed it in 1985. Following this, they enrolled in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology in 1987.

Dr. Bentz then continued their medical studies at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990. Joel also completed a Transitional Residency (Internship) at the same institution from 1990 to 1991. Subsequently, from 1991 to 1995, they pursued an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

To further enhance their expertise, Dr. Bentz pursued a Fellowship in Cytopathology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 1995 to 1996. Later, in 1998, they attended the University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business, where they obtained a Certificate in Medical Leadership.

Through these years of dedicated education and training, Dr. Bentz has developed a robust foundation in various fields, including Medicine, Biology, Anatomy and Cell Biology, and specialties such as Cytopathology.
