Simon Ross

Simon is Chief Commercial Officer at Intersect Power, where he oversees procurement, power marketing and plant operations. Simon has over 15 years of international experience as an operating executive, investor and lawyer in the energy industry.

Before joining Intersect Power, Simon was a Managing Director in the Energy Technology team at Macquarie Green Investment Group. In this role he led venture, growth and project equity investments in the retail power, fleet electrification, distributed energy and energy storage sectors. Previously, he was Deputy General Counsel and global head of legal for Tesla’s energy business. At Tesla, Simon was responsible for the structuring and execution of landmark projects including commercial and residential virtual power plants and standalone and PV paired energy storage systems. He was also a member of the core team responsible for the acquisition and integration of SolarCity. Prior to Tesla, Simon was at Recurrent Energy during a period when the company developed and financed over 1GW of utility scale solar projects in the U.S. and Canada. Simon started his career at White & Case, where he worked in the firm’s London, Hong Kong and Beijing offices and advised developers, sponsors and lenders on the development and financing of infrastructure projects in the electric power, oil, gas and petrochemicals industries.

Simon has an MA in Politics, Philosophy & Economics from St. Hugh’s College, Oxford and a law degree from BPP University in London.
