Marty Van Der Sloot has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Marty started their career in the US Army as an Air Defense Artillery member from 1991 to 1993. In 1999, they worked as a Network Administrator at Iowa State Bank, where they implemented Active Directory and network storage systems. From 2000 to 2003, they served as an Applications Programmer at Interstates before transitioning to the role of Project Manager from 2003 to 2012. Currently, they hold the position of Division Manager at Interstates, overseeing a team of manufacturing IT professionals and providing services such as vulnerability protection, virtualization, networking, and cybersecurity assessments. As the Director of Operational Technologies: Infrastructure and Security since 2018, they are responsible for designing, installing, securing, and supporting industrial systems and technology for Interstates' manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with industry standards for security.

Marty Van Der Sloot attended Sibley-Ocheyedan High School for their high school education. After graduating, they pursued an Associate of Science degree in Computer Science with a focus on Computer Programming / Networking from Northwest Iowa Community College between 1995 and 1999.
