Tolu Thomas

Tolu Thomas has a diverse range of work experience. Tolu started their career as a Software Developer at TELA at the American University of Nigeria in 2016, where they built modules for an Android application aimed at teaching numeracy to less privileged children. In 2016, they also completed a graduate internship at ipNX Nigeria Limited. In 2017, they continued their internship at the same company but in a different role as a Graduate Intern (NYSC). In 2018, Tolu worked as a Data Scientist at Nottingham Trent University, utilizing machine learning algorithms to analyze weld data. Tolu also served as a Web Developer for Feel Good Contacts, increasing organic search engagements using SEO techniques. In 2019, Tolu became a Research Assistant at Nottingham Trent University and developed a cross-platform chat application using React Native and Firebase. Currently, Tolu is working as a Senior Software Engineer at Interswitch Group, leading a team to maintain and improve the Quickteller mobile app. Tolu has successfully reduced app startup time, decreased app size, and developed a deployment pipeline using various technologies such as React Native, Git, Jenkins, and Azure Devops. Overall, Tolu Thomas has demonstrated expertise in software development, data analysis, and team leadership through their various roles.

Tolu Thomas has a diverse education history spanning multiple institutions and fields of study. They began their education at the International School, University of Lagos, where they obtained an O'level certificate in Science in 2009. In 2010, Tolu attended Management Education and Training (MET) to pursue SAT and TOEFL iBT certifications.

The following year, Tolu enrolled in Adesoye College Foundation to Sussex, where they completed an Engineering Foundation Year. In 2012, they proceeded to the American University of Nigeria, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science in 2015.

After some years in the workforce, Tolu pursued further education at Nottingham Trent University from 2018 to 2019, completing a Master's degree in IT Security. They then transitioned to The University of Texas at Austin in 2021, where they pursued a Postgraduate Degree in Data Science and Business Analytics, which they completed in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Tolu has also obtained additional certifications. They received a Verified International Academic Qualifications certification from World Education Services in July 2020. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified SAFe® 5 Practitioner certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in September 2021.
