Katie Velazco

Katie Velazco has a diverse work experience, starting as an Office Assistant at Capitol Anesthesiology in 2007. Katie then transitioned to technology roles at the Smithsonian Institution, where they held positions such as New Media Project Specialist and Technology Manager. Katie later joined Intevity, an innovative consultancy, where they served in various roles, including Business Experience Designer, Strategist & Experience Designer, Senior Manager, and eventually, as Senior Director of Strategy & Experience, overseeing departments, leading strategic initiatives, and mentoring teams. Throughout their career, Katie has demonstrated a strong focus on user-centered design, usability, and agile methodologies.

Katie Velazco completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Double Major in Anthropology & Media Arts at the University of Arizona from 2003 to 2007. Katie then pursued a Master of Arts in Maritime Archaeology at the University of Southampton from 2007 to 2008. In 2015, Katie obtained the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) certification from Scrum Alliance. Additionally, they have completed various online courses in Information Design, User Experience, Design Principles, and Human-Centered Design through Coursera in 2016 and 2017.
