Into Film
Sam Wilson serves as the Audience Development Lead and Director of the Into Film Festival at Into Film since January 2014, focusing on the strategic development of large-scale projects and overseeing multiple workstreams. Prior experience includes managing the National Youth Film Festival at FILMCLUB (UK) from March 2010 to December 2013, where Sam facilitated cross-department collaboration and partner engagement. Additionally, Sam held the role of Schools Coordinator, implementing strategies to grow and support film clubs across the UK, as well as serving as Events Manager at Film Education, overseeing significant national events. Earlier work includes roles at the Media Education Association and ITV, coupled with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from the University of Gloucestershire.
Into Film
Into Film is a charity supported principally by the British Film Institute (through the National Lottery), Cinema First and Northern Ireland Screen. Into Film aims to put film at the heart of children and young people’s educational, cultural and personal development. More than half of UK schools engage with Into Film’s programme of Into Film Clubs, special cinema screenings, educational resources and training to support classroom teaching. Into Film aims to provide 5- to 19-year-olds with opportunities to learn about and with film and develop a passion for cinema In June 2021, Into Film launched Into Film+, the UK’s first streaming platform dedicated to film and designed for all school settings, created in partnership with Filmbankmedia, who are Into Film’s principal content, licensing and streaming technology provider. Allowing UK schools to safely stream a wide range of classic and new release films in the classroom and extra-curricular settings for free (provided they have the appropriate licence to do so). All films are digitally secured and will only play in the user’s licensed location.
