David Livingston Smith has extensive work experience in various engineering roles. David Livingston started their career at IBM as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they wrote specifications for automated tooling and programmed robot-based work cells. David Livingston then worked at Vanguard Automation as a Controls Engineer before joining Hewlett-Packard Company as a Manufacturing Development Engineer. In this role, they supported software and tooling development for manufacturing testers and transferred technical knowledge to a Singapore-based team.

Smith then moved on to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, where they worked as a Firmware Support Engineer. David Livingston resolved firmware issues at customer sites, modified drive firmware to support customer configurations, and created test scripts for unique functions.

After that, Smith worked at LSI Corporation as a Project Manager and Application Engineer. David Livingston managed a project while also providing technical contributions, such as bringing up FPGA test systems and debugging issues.

Smith then joined Seagate Technology as a System Integration Engineer. David Livingston was part of the Flash Integration & Characterization team, where they integrated new NAND models with flash storage processors and worked with NAND flash suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Currently, Smith is employed at Intoxalock Ignition Interlock. David Livingston has held multiple roles at the company, including Sustaining Engineer, Product Engineer, and currently, Firmware Manager.

David Livingston Smith received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University between the years 1983 and 1988. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Masters degree in Computer Science from National Technological University from 1996 to 2000. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from the Scrum Alliance in May 2020.
