Shamim Ahmad has extensive experience in the field of pharmacology, specifically in the area of preclinical studies for novel therapies. Shamim has held various leadership and scientific roles in different companies and research institutions.

Starting in 2021, Shamim Ahmad works as the Senior Director, Program Leader, and Head of In vivo/ex vivo Pharmacology at Precigen. In this role, they lead a team conducting candidate screening and preclinical studies to advance pipeline programs for CAR-T, gene therapy, autoimmunity, and infectious diseases. Shamim is responsible for designing and executing in vivo and ex vivo studies, as well as coordinating with project team leads and in vivo pharmacology team to ensure study planning and resource allocation.

From 2020 to 2021, they worked as the Associate Director of in vivo/ex vivo Pharmacology at Kite Pharma. Shamim led a team conducting preclinical studies for CAR-T programs, with a focus on solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Shamim was responsible for in vivo efficacy and toxicity modeling using tumor models and led a cross-functional project team with multiple collaborators.

Prior to that, from 2019 to 2020, Shamim Ahmad worked as a Senior Scientist in the field of pharmacology at Sutro Biopharma, Inc. Shamim led and assisted with research projects analyzing and characterizing various therapeutic agents using in vivo experiments. Shamim also conducted multicolor flow cytometry to evaluate biomarkers and generated scientific proposals.

From 2017 to 2019, Shamim Ahmad worked at Five Prime Therapeutics, Inc. Initially as a Scientist III in pharmacology, they managed immuno-oncology projects and performed experiments and data analysis according to regulatory requirements. Later, they were promoted to Senior Scientist and took on additional responsibilities of leading and developing direct reports.

Shamim Ahmad's career in pharmacology began in 2008 when they worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tulane University. Shamim then moved on to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where they continued their postdoctoral fellowship from 2010 to 2012. After that, they joined Augusta University as an Assistant Research Scientist, managing multiple projects related to cancer immunotherapy and T cell subsets.

Shamim Ahmad completed their education in a chronological order. From 1997 to 2000, they attended B. N. College (Patna University) in Patna, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) degree in Biotechnology. Following this, from 2000 to 2002, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Biotechnology from Panjab University. Finally, from 2002 to 2008, Shamim Ahmad joined the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Life Sciences, specializing in Immunology.
