Staff Software Engineer - Data at Intus Care

Amr Abouelleil has a diverse work experience in software engineering and writing. Amr currently works at Intus Care as a Staff Software Engineer - Data. Previously, they worked at A.A. Leil as a Freelance Writer, where they focused on science fiction, contemporary fiction, memoir, and blog writing. Amr also contributed to Scientific American during this time.

Prior to that, they worked at Careforth as a Senior Data Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for developing and maintaining ETL pipelines using Python, Airflow, PySpark, and various AWS services. During their time at the Broad Institute, they conducted requirements-gathering meetings, performed DevOps duties, and founded the Grow-SE initiative for cross-departmental collaboration between software engineers.

Amr's earlier work experience includes roles as a Data Analyst at the Whitehead Institute and as a PC Applications Specialist at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Overall, Amr Abouelleil has extensive experience in software engineering, writing, and bioinformatics, with a particular focus on ETL pipelines, microservices development, and genomic analysis.

Amr Abouelleil's education history began in 1993, when they enrolled at Rutgers University. Amr completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1997. Following this, from 1999 to 2002, Abouelleil pursued a Master of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience at the University of Hartford. Finally, they furthered their education by obtaining a Programming Certificate in Computer Science from the Harvard Extension School from 2016 to 2019.
