Lauren Lavoie

VP Of Software Engineering & Product at Invaio Sciences

Lauren Lavoie has a diverse work experience spanning across various companies and roles. Currently, they are the VP of Software Engineering & Product at Invaio, an agricultural biotech startup. In this role, they lead the Software, Data Science, and Product teams in developing technologies that enable farmers to improve yields and use natural crop health solutions.

Before joining Invaio, Lauren worked at Walmart where they held multiple positions. Lauren was the Senior Director of Engineering, Health & Wellness Technology from October 2022 to February 2023, responsible for the digital customer experiences in the Health & Wellness sector. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Engineering, Health & Wellness Technology from June 2020 to October 2022, overseeing the transition of CareZone's engineering team into Walmart after its acquisition.

Lauren started their career at CareZone.com, where they worked from 2016 to 2020. Lauren held the position of Head of Engineering and Product, managing a team of engineers and product managers dedicated to helping people take care of themselves and their loved ones. During their tenure, CareZone's technology and team were acquired by Walmart. Before taking on this role, they were an Engineering Manager at CareZone from August 2016 to November 2017.

Prior to CareZone.com, Lauren worked at Grameen Foundation as a Software Development Manager from June 2012 to July 2016. In this role, they managed the Mobile Health Innovations software engineering team, contributing to the development and deployment of the open source MOTECH Platform for mobile health projects in India and Sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, they played a key role in launching a nationwide mHealth program in India targeting pregnant women, mothers, and health workers.

Lauren's career also includes a tenure at Microsoft Corporation. From December 2006 to June 2012, they were a Senior Program Manager, responsible for the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) Application Model feature area. Lauren led planning, scheduling, specifications, and code quality efforts, as well as contributed to improving WPF web adoption. Earlier, from August 2003 to December 2006, they served as a Program Manager, providing support to the WPF developer community through various mediums and mentoring team members.

Lauren's journey at Microsoft began with a Program Manager Internship in the summer of 2002, where they worked on the Windows team. During their internship, they drove new security features for the Application Verifier and wrote a widely-circulated whitepaper on common reasons for application crashes.

Lauren Lavoie earned a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. Prior to that, they attended University High School from 1995 to 1999.
