From 2001 to 2008, they were a Consultant at Desai Advisory Partners. From 1993 to 2001, they were a Principal at Hambrecht & Quist / JP Morgan Chase. From 1992 to 1993, they were an Analyst at Wasserstein Perella.

Jay Desai graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and a minor in English Literature.
