Hilarey Gould

Hilarey Gould (formerly Hilarey Wojtowicz) has over a decade of journalism experience, with expertise in editing, content strategy, SEO, social media, and more.

Hilarey is currently the Editorial Director, Financial Products and Services, at Investopedia. Prior to that, she was Editorial Director at the personal finance website The Balance. Hilarey worked at The Balance from 2019 to 2023. During her time in the financial media space, Hilarey has developed a love for all things personal finance, from saving and investing money to credit card perks and mortgage rates.

Before she began writing and editing personal finance content, Hilarey worked in social media, content strategy, content marketing, and travel journalism. She held editorial roles at TripAdvisor, Odyssey, realtor.com, Bankrate, Meredith Xcelerated Marketing (now part of Accenture), Swirled, and SmartAsset.

When she's not working on content that tells readers how certificates of deposit (CDs) work or why a home equity loan might be the right move, Hilarey works as an adjunct professor in the journalism department at her alma mater, The College of New Jersey.

Hilarey was born and raised in New Jersey and still lives in the Garden State with her husband.

Hilarey has a master's in journalism from the University of Missouri, and a bachelor's in journalism and professional writing from The College of New Jersey. She also has a minor in communication studies.
