Connelly La Mar has had a diverse and extensive career in the media and arts industries. In 2018, they began working as the Chief Operating Officer for InvestorPortaLPro, where they lead global strategy and development for a variety of assets for multinational corporations. From 2014 to 2018, they held multiple roles at VICE Media, including Producer, Line Producer, and Production Management. During this time, they led development and research for a variety of verticals, managed international field and studio production, handled complex budgets, and worked closely with field producers on logistics, equipment, budgets and regional assets necessary for production. From 2014 to 2016, La Mar was an Adjunct Professor at the New York Film Academy, lecturing in photography and production, and working with department chairs and staff on refining syllabi for existing courses. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Producer for Plan International, photographing, documenting and reporting on projects in China, India and Thailand. From 2009 to 2011, they were an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, teaching art history and theoretical design principles in art and architecture to undergraduate students. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Producer/Agent for Southeast Asia and Japan for Picture Farm Productions, leading Gallery Stock into the Southeast Asian market. From 2007 to 2008, they were the Curatorial Director at H Gallery in Bangkok, Thailand, running curatorial programs and working closely with artists to organize exhibitions.
Connelly La Mar attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a semester of intensive studies in Photography and Physics in 2000. From 1999 to 2002, they attended the San Francisco Art Institute, graduating with a BFA in Photography. In 2003, they began attending Yale University, graduating with an MFA in Photography in 2005.
