Arnau Sellarès Rubio, PhD

Arnau Sellarès Rubio, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and software development. Arnau started their career in 2012 as a Research Intern at Lund University, where they conducted a study on telomeres in yeast. After completing their Master's degree, they worked as a Research Intern at the Universitat de Barcelona, focusing on genes regulated by egr4 in planaria.

In 2015, Arnau joined CIBERNED - Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red as a Laboratory Technician, where they processed biological and human samples, conducted DNA/RNA/protein extractions, and performed cell cultures and PCR techniques.

In 2017, Arnau started working at Made of Genes as a Data Engineer. In this role, they designed and implemented applications for data analysis and processing. Arnau also deployed bioinformatics pipelines for processing NGS data.

Currently, Arnau is a Python Software Developer at InvestSuite, a position they started in 2023.

Arnau Sellarès Rubio, PhD, has a diverse educational background with a focus on biomedicine, bioinformatics, and genetics. Arnau obtained their Doctorado (PhD) in Biomedicina y Bioinformática from Universitat de Barcelona from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, they pursued a Máster in Bioinformática y Bioestadística at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in 2017-2018. In order to strengthen their programming skills, they also completed a course in Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python at MITx Courses in 2017.

Arnau's Máster degree in Genética from Universitat de Barcelona was completed in 2012-2013. Additionally, they gained practical experience through a Becario Erasmus position at Lund University in 2012, where they received lab training. In terms of undergraduate education, Arnau earned a Grado en Biología (Bachelor's degree in Biology) with a specialization in Molecular Biology from Universitat de Barcelona from 2008 to 2012. Before pursuing higher education, Arnau completed their Bachillerato (high school) at IES Joan Boscà (Barcelona) in 2006-2008, with a focus on Science and Technology.

In addition to their academic achievements, Arnau has obtained several certifications outside of their formal education. These include Open Water Diver certification from ACUC in 2011, English Advanced Certificate from EIM (Escola d'Idiomes Moderns) in 2011, Monitor de ocio infantil y juvenil certification from Secretaria de Joventut, Generalitat de Catalunya in 2010, and Carnet de conducir B (driver's license) from Autoescuela Zona F in 2012.
