Jean Adelhardt is currently a member of the Board of Inwood Community Services. She is a long-time resident of Inwood and she belonged to many local neighborhood block associations in the past.
She has a BS degree in nursing from Niagara University, and a MA degree in nursing from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has worked at a few hospitals in NYC but has spent most of her career working at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center. To help with patients’ transition from hospital care to home care, she has worked closely with home care agencies and insurance companies, helping to coordinate clients' care. Currently, she works with cancer patients by specializing in cancer pain management, palliative care and end-of-life care. With colleagues, she has authored articles for professional journals and assisted in the research of opioid medication use in cancer patients.
Throughout her career, she has lectured at local and international conferences concentrating on pain assessment and care of cancer patients in pain.
