Piet Jan de Bruin

Piet Jan de Bruin has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Piet Jan is currently a Co-Founder of IOMETE, a managed data lakehouse company that provides a cost-effective alternative to compute credits and lock-ins. Prior to this, they served as a Board Member at Crisp, the leading online supermarket in the Netherlands that operates with a digital supply chain infrastructure. Piet Jan also co-founded TRACK smarter air-conditioning systems, a start-up disrupted by COVID-19-related challenges.

Before their entrepreneurial ventures, de Bruin held executive positions at Tuft & Needle, where they served as CEO, President, and CFO. Piet Jan contributed to the company's success by tripling revenue and achieving positive EBITDA while remaining self-funded. Additionally, they were the CFO of Etos, a retail company, and held various roles at Ahold Delhaize, including Sr. Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, Head of Strategy (Ahold USA), and Finance Director (Ahold USA). Piet Jan also worked as a Business Analyst at US Foods (under Ahold ownership).

De Bruin began their career at Philips, where they served as Controller in various divisions, including CT & MR EMEA (Philips Healthcare) and Direct Export Latin America (Philips Healthcare). Overall, de Bruin has demonstrated expertise in finance, strategy, and executive leadership in their diverse work experience.

Piet Jan de Bruin is currently pursuing the W22 Batch program at Y Combinator, starting in 2022. Prior to this, they completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Business Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Additionally, they have received executive education in Business Administration and Management, General from Harvard Business School.
