Timothy Shade has a wealth of experience in the music industry. From 2003 to 2007, they worked as a Showband Musician for Carnival Cruise Line. From 2008 to 2016, they were the Director of Instrumental Music at Bethel College-North Newton, where they coordinated and conducted the Bethel College Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, as well as directed all aspects of the instrumental music program with a yearly operating budget of approximately $7,000. Timothy also coordinated the Bethel College Summer Music Camp (approximately 60 students and a budget of $20,000) and hosted and coordinated the Mid-Central Activities Association League Music Festival (12 high school programs (approx. 1500 students) on campus). From 2016 to 2019, they were the Director, School of Music and Director of Bands at Wichita State University, where they guided all aspects of mission and vision for the School of Music, coordinated all academic programs and supervised undergraduate and graduate curriculum, served as budget officer for the School of Music and managed a budget of over $4,000,000, coordinated faculty and student recruitment and retention, managed accreditation (NASM) and program assessment, and coordinated fund-raising priorities and actively worked to cultivate donors for the School of Music. In 2019, they became the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of Ion Concert Media and the Trombonist and Horns Arranger for NewSpring Church Kansas.
Timothy Shade has an extensive educational history. Timothy obtained a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Miami in 2016, a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Miami in 2008, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Youngstown State University in 2006. Additionally, they have obtained seven certifications from LinkedIn in the areas of Confronting Bias, Inclusive Mindset, Unconscious Bias, Addressing Unconscious Bias as a Leader, Discussing Racism with Dr. Christina Greer, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, and Supporting Allyship and Anti-Racism at Work, all obtained in November and October of 2022.
