Steve Buckingham has over 37 years of professional experience in the fields of materials characterization, surface science, and energy storage technology. Steve began their career in 1983 as a Research Scientist Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin. Steve then worked as a Field Service Engineer at VG Scientific in 1984, followed by a position as a MTS at Hughes Research Labs in 1985. In 1988, Buckingham joined Kratos Analytical Inc. as a Field Service/Applications Engineer, and then moved up to Service Manager North and South America in 2003. In 2000, they returned to Excellatron Solid State LLC as the Director of Process Development, and then moved to Sakti3 Inc. in 2010 as the Head of Materials Characterization. In 2012, they joined Novelis Inc. as Lead Surface Scientist, and then moved to Ion Storage Systems in 2020 as the Director of Materials Characterization.
Steve Buckingham attended Oxford Boys Grammar School from 1970 to 1977, where they studied Physics and Mathematics. Steve then attended the University of Exeter from 1977 to 1982, where they earned a BSc in Physics with Mathematics.
