Taher Raed Othman

Senior Battery Test Engineer at Ionblox

Taher Raed Othman has a diverse range of work experience in various research and engineering roles. Taher Raed is currently working at Ionblox, Inc. as a Process Engineer, where they are researching and developing high-specific energy and high-power lithium-ion cells, specifically focusing on high-silicon anode electrodes. This work involves exploring the advantages of high-silicon anodes over graphite anodes in terms of energy density and charge capabilities.

Prior to their current role, Taher worked at the University of California, Davis as part of a Process Design Capstone project. Under the supervision of Dr. Jason White, they conducted research and profitability analysis for the design of a process plant to produce isopropanol and acetone through direct oxidation of propane. Taher Raed also considered the environmental and social impacts of this process.

Before that, Taher gained experience as an Optics Research Intern at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. In this role, they conducted research on a Compact Fabry-Perot Interferometer based on a Bi-Layer Photonic Bandgap Crystal. The applications of this research could potentially contribute to the development of higher-speed processors and chipsets.

Lastly, Taher worked as a Catalysis Research Intern at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). During this time, they conducted research on the synthesis of a novel molecule called bisfuropyidine using a green Sonogashira coupling in water. Taher Raed'swork was conducted within Dr. Prof. Jorg Eppinger’s Catalysis group.

Overall, Taher Raed Othman has gained valuable experience in research and engineering, with a focus on lithium-ion cells, process design, optics, and catalysis.

Taher Raed Othman's education history begins in 2015 when they completed a Certificate of Completion in the College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program at the University of California, Berkeley.

In 2016, they enrolled at the University of California, Davis where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Economics. Taher Raed attended the university until 2021, completing their undergraduate studies.

Additionally, in an unspecified time frame, Taher also obtained a Certificate of Completion in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. The exact duration of this program is unknown.
